Anodised Aluminium

Anodised aluminium is aluminium which has been oxidised to create a thin protective layer over the aluminium, this layer can be coloured with dyes before being steam sealed. Once sealed the colour is permanent, however just like silver and other metals can be scratched. Warm soapy water (a soft toothbrush can be used) is enough to clean your aluminium jewellery and can be dried with a soft cloth.

Sterling Silver

Over time sterling silver will tarnish becoming dull and will eventually start to turn a from silver to a dirty yellow and eventually grey/black.

Tarnishing is a perfectly natural process and is a result of the silver reacting to other chemical in the air and in products we use including perfumes, moisturisers, hair products & perspiration. To slow down the tarnishing process you can:

Remove jewellery for exercising, swimming & showering.Put your jewellery on after doing your make-up, hair & applying perfumeStore your jewellery somewhere dark & moisture free, an airtight container is ideal.

If you feel your silver is starting to dull you can give it a quick polish with a silver polishing cloth, special cloths are available to buy that are soft and impregnated with silver polish and will help keep your silver looking nice and shiny for longer.

Eco method for cleaning silver

Oxidised Silver

Silver that has been oxidised will be black in colour, it is a finish which intentional speeds up the oxidisation process to create finish which can be used to highlight textures and designs on the silver.

Over time the oxidisation can wear off and high points on the silver will start to polish up, which can add to the deign of the piece but if you prefer a darker all over black this be re-done. A silver polishing cloth should NOT be used as this will remove the oxidisation.

If you do need to clean your jewellery warm soapy water and a soft cloth to dry will be suffice. ​
