Eco Method For Cleaning Silver
If your silver jewellery is heavily tarnished and does not contain any stones, you can clean it some simple household ingredients, you will need:
Aluminium kitchen foil; Bicarbonate of soda; Heatproof dish (not metal)
Lightly crumple the foil and use to line the base of your dish and place your jewellery on the foil (the silver needs to be in contact with the foil to work). Sprinkle over a couple of tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda and pour over water which has just boiled. TAKE CARE: bicarbonate of soda will cause the water to fizz up. Once cooled remove your jewellery and rinse thoroughly before drying with a soft cloth. Once dry a silver polishing cloth can also be used.
If your silver is heavily tarnished, you might need to repeat the process more than once.
